Hello,!
My hometown is in California. It's a city named Huntington Beach and it's famous for surfing.
In fact, the national US Open of Surfing is held there during the summer months every year .Surfers have been going there for ages and the surf culture has been built up around shops such as Jack's Surfboards, the H.B. Beer Factory and The Surfer's Hall of Fame, which is something similar to Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
Each stone on the Hall of Fame induces the hand prints, footprints and signatures of recognized surfers who are chosen dir their contributions or feats in the sports of surfing. They are invited to a ceremony in their honor and are asked to lend their hands, feet and signatures to special cement forms in front of another landmark business, Huntington Surf and Sport.
Their stone tributes surround a centerpiece, life size bronze statue of Duke Kahanamoku, the father of US surfing. It is an oddity them that coming from such hallowed surfing groups - I had never even tried to stand on a surfboard until coming to Japan.
I have just started surfing only a few months ago and I love it. With miles of sand at Kujukuri Beach in Chiba, Japan is a great place to surf in its own right. However, I cannot help but think that I wasted a lot of good waves during my life in Huntington Beach. I only wish I had started earlier.
At any rate, if you are already into surfing or would like to try something new, please take a trip to Huntington Beach on your next vacation. You will not be sorry.
