Bintang is one of the Indonesian Islands which was developed in Collaboration with the Singapore Government as a tropical resort island.
As a scholarship winner, I had a chanve to stay at dreamlike Club Med in Bintan.
I had many chances to play various kind of sports with instructors. I tried squash and golf, and played trapeze at first time. All staff were entertainers and their show every night made us laugh and feel free. Not only English and French, also Chinese, Korean and Japanese were spoken there. I had a chance to use a little bit of French. It's worth staying and sharing the time with people in a village of Club Med. It was like magic and enchanted me.
II spent one day in Singapore. More than twenty years has passed since I visited there last when I worked for Singapore Embassy in Tokyo.
As I expected, I saw a lot of changes. For example, when I took the subway, instead of paper ticket, plastic card as big as a credit card was used as ticket. And additional deposit was to be paid back after we got off the subway. It seems very kind to environment because cutting trees is unnecessary.
When I talked with one of Sinpaporeans, she proudly said that Singapore had been changed a lot in there 10 years. I fully realize how Singapore developed. Thanks fdor ALE staff.I had a wonderful holidays. I appreciate your all arrangements you made for this trip.
